Weekend Recap: SUN, SUN AND MORE SUN

Well folks, I think we made it through winter finally. I'm sure we will still have plenty of chilly days, but this weekend got us so excited for spring and summer. Unfortunately Dylan has a big test coming up this week so he spent most of his time studying.

On Friday we popped a couple bottles of wine, made dinner and watched Couples Retreat. The movie definitely had some funny parts, but I'm not going to suggest you go out immediately and see this one. We usually stick with television series on the Netflix Queue. We just started The Sopranos. It is going to take us a while to get through all six seasons. I'm really pumped about season three of Mad Men which comes out on March 23!! I need more Don Draper in my life. :)
I'm in love!

For those of you who don't know anything about the show, here's the synopsis.
The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

Catch an episode of Mad Men on AMC.

On Saturday I went out with a bunch of girls from work. We started early (4:00 p.m.) to hit up a couple of happy hours in Newport, KY. I am really starting to like that area. Newport is a quick drive across the river to Kentucky. They have a great shopping/movie theater/restaurant/bar scene going on. We started at Brio Tuscan Grill where I found my new favorite spring cocktail and $2.95 appetizers. Brio reminds me of Bravo, just a bit more expensive which explains why we went for Happy Hour. Now, let me introduce you to the Bellini.

Normally I don't do fruity drinks, but this one is just right. I can't wait to mix these up during happy hour at the lake! The perfect chilled drink for a warm sunny day. I smile just thinking about it. I've been looking around online and these are the ingredients I plan to use. Let me know what you think.
1/2 cup Peach Puree
1/4 cup Peach Snapps
3/4 cup Sparkling Wine
And of course, ice!

PS. The apps. were delicious too!

Next weekend we are heading up to Chicago. I am very excited to see some of my Purdue friends and enjoy some green beer! Hope you all had a wonderful, sunny weekend!

xoxo,
T
