My Job Today

ometimes I am very frustrated with my job and then I find an amazing volunteer that wants to start a new troop even though she doesn't have a daughter or I have the opportunity to hang out with little girls like these.
Super Models for sure!

Today was one of those days. After a somewhat frustrating Monday morning, I headed to downtown Cincinnati to the Westin Hotel for a very special event. Each year the Westin buys 25 cases of Girl Scout cookies to give to their guests. This year I was asked if I had any deserving troops that would benefit from money earned from the order. I knew exactly who I wanted to ask.

The troop is a mix of 1st-4th grade girls that attend Winton Hills Recreation Center after school. Last year I started a short-term program with these girls and their coordinator was nice enough to continue the troop. Winton Hills is home to one of Cincinnati's housing projects for low income citizens. I don't have any other troops in the area, but I hope this will start a trend.

With a little help from other leaders, we were able to offer this opportunity to the Winton Hills troop. 10 of the 15 girls got to visit the hotel for a pizza party and private tour of the hotel. The money they earn from this sale will give them a head-start to more exciting activities and adventures outside their neighborhood.

The girls had a pizza party, sang songs,, and recited the Girl Scout Promise. I think they enjoyed seeing one of the suites the most.

Check out the looks on the girls faces when he told them how much the check was worth!

Something so simple is so exciting for these girls and it was a lot of fun to be there with them.

Walter Update

Not much has changed with Walter until this weekend. Last night was somewhat eventful. We had plans to go out to dinner with some friends, but that quickly changed when Walt accidentally pawed Dylan in the face during play time. 4 hours and 4 stitches later we made it home with take-out. Not the best way to spend Friday night. Walt feels pretty bad, but his dad quickly forgave him. :)

The med student did a good job!

On a high note, our dog now has everything (except formal obedience training). Just a couple of weeks ago we found an amazing deal on Groupon for Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa. If you have not heard of Groupon you need to check it out! It's awesome! For $36 we purchased a one-year membership to their private dog park, dog pool access (maybe we can get him ready for lake season), and the required daycare evaluation. This package is valued at $144. I love a good deal!

Well today was Walter's evaluation day. Thankfully they didn't ask Dylan any questions about his recent medical treatment. ha Walter spent 4 hours at the day care and passed with flying colors!! He even got a report card and yes, it is going on the refrigerator!

(How cute is this Great Dane!!)

Now we can take Walt to the dog park, day care or boarding anytime we need to. Just one more convenient and costly way to treat your pet! He's passed out in my lap as we speak and that's enough for me.

In other news, we are moving! Not immediately and not out of Cincinnati. We will continue to look for new opportunities in Cincinnati and/or Indy, but we thought a change of scenery would be nice. We are hoping to find a place closer to shops/bars/restaurants that might be a bit cheaper than what we are paying now. Just sounds like a good time to save! I will keep you posted!

The official logo for Super Bowl XLVI was unveiled today by the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee in a short video posted on their website.

The logo features an image of the Lombardi Trophy, the words 'Super Bowl XLVI' and an image of the exterior of Lucas Oil Stadium. The game is scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Preparing For Summer

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for summer! The countdown is getting intense for my sister's wedding in Ft. Lauderdale!!! With only 2 months until my MUCH needed vaca to sunny Florida, I am constantly thinking of all the new clothes I want to buy! (My bank account is not as excited.)

Here's my list so far...
1. A swim suit like hers... and the body to go with it!

2. A couple new cover-ups. I love the little romper!

3. New wedges and sandles
4. Finding a rehearsal dinner dress, plus a few more for work and fun! Unfortunately, it's a little early for summer clothing. If you see anything cute in the next couple of months, let me know!
5. My first pair of boat shoes!! (Valentine's gift from D.)

That's all for now. So much to look forward to this summer and I cannot wait!
Happy Spring!

XOXO,
T

Girls Weekend: Chicago

Last weekend I went up to Chicago (before the "thundersnow") to spend some quality time with my sister and two of her college girlfriends. Lauren needed to conquer some wedding shopping and what better place than the chilly streets of Chicago.

Friday night: Tavern on Rush
Me and Lo at Tavern on Rush

Our group at Tavern on Rush

After a full day of shopping, we headed out for delicious Italian dinner at Quartino.

Thanks ladies for all the girl time and thanks Lauren for all the photos!! One thing I did realize this weekend is that I need to invest in a small digital camera. Maybe then I will have more pics for this blog!

TOP NIGHT!
