The $300 Million Dollar Movie

It is not often that we actually go out and see a movie in theaters, but as soon as the trailer for Avatar came out I knew we would not be waiting for the DVD. Dylan was super pumped to see this film. It got a lot of hype prior to the release and it totally lived up to all of it.

We bought our tickets online, just to be safe. If you are going to see it in theaters find a 3D theater. We got there 40 minutes early (again to be safe), got our 3D glasses and took the best seats in the house. The place filled up quickly, so I suggest going early, but be prepared to sit for a long time! The movie is 2 hours, 40 minutes long. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great but 3/4 of the way through it I almost had to get up to stretch.

Here a short synopsis of the film.
"Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people."

I pretty sure I drove Dylan crazy with questions throughout the movie. I'm amazed at the imagination and technology that went into this movie. I would definitely suggest seeing it in 3D too. Unlike most 3D films where stuff starts flying out of the screen, this 3D technology gave each scene depth, with a distinct foreground and background.

All in all, Avatar is a pretty sweet movie. I know Dylan will be adding it to our blu-ray collection as soon as it comes out. If only we had a 3D blu-ray player. (Sorry Peyton. Maybe 3D blu-ray will be the last form of movie sold, but I doubt it.)

Here is the official trailer. Let me know what you think!
